120th anniversary of the X-ray, a look at how it changed our view of the world!

"Sunday, November 8 marks the 120th anniversary of one of the greatest moments in the history of science: an obscure German physics professor’s discovery of the X-ray. His name was Wilhelm Roentgen, and in the six weeks that followed, he devoted nearly every waking hour to exploring the properties of the new rays before announcing his discovery to the world. Within just months, scientists worldwide were experimenting with the newly discovered rays. Roentgen’s discovery and its subsequent revolutionary impact represent one of science’s greatest stories.

Roentgen’s discovery opened a window on the previously invisible interior of the human body and spawned the existence of an entirely new medical specialty, radiology. As a practicing radiologist, I’ve been amazed to see how x-rays have changed our views of ourselves and our world – so much so that I even wrote book about it, X-ray Vision. The story is vast, but some of its key features can be summarized here."

Do's and Dont's of Email Marketing

A colleague recently ask me what the Do's and Dont's of Email Marketing were.  I had to say I wasnt sure so I did some research. An email account will likely get suspended if you fail to follow the guidelines below.

DON'T:
  • Personally send more than 100 emails per day
  • Personally send out more than 10 emails at a time
  • Have more than 25 emails bounce back with invalid email addresses
  • Send mass emails using the BCC field - they are considered "spam"
  • Use all caps in your subject field
  • Use exclamation points in your subject field
  • Use multiple colors, fonts, bolds, all caps, links, etc. in the body of the email
DO:
  • Send out personalized emails to your contacts in small batches, a few every day
  • Use an email service like Constant Contact, or Mail Chimp, but only if the recipients first "opted in", or agreed to receive email from us
  • Add a field to our Sales Agreements granting permission to email customers with special offers and other information; this will help build our email database
  • Keep subject lines to < 49 characters
  • Use the HTML email we created for you (to forward in small batches - see above). Our developer is working on an email-friendly version that you can send directly from your gmail account. I'll forward to you as soon as I get it.

Maine CBCT Masters Program

Maine CBCT Masters Program

Probably the most advanced CBCT 3D radio-graphic interpretation course happened this weekend in Maine.  Mr Dick Greenan ,who's dental 2D and 3D x-ray experience in my opinion is unsurpassed by anyone and my personal mentor, gave a 2 day hands on course.  His 2 attendees, Dr Konig and Dr Ensler, certainly got a lot out of the 2 days course and I certainly hope they realize that this was probably the best 3D interpretation course that weekend on the planet.

How to deal with Short Sales calls

This short sales call turned into a very long information giving and industry explaining call that then proceeded to not end in any purchase!  I should have cut this off after an hour!
